In 1969 my Dad introduced me to a British Blues Band called Fleetwood Mac, the first time I heard ‘Albatross’ I thought this must be what if feels like to fly on the wind… I loved hearing this over and over and over again… and I did, often and thanks to my Dad, very loud! Albatross was later released on an album called ‘The Pious Bird of Good Omen’ which I still have, on vinyl, and I still love and play… loud!
Only two of these guys, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, were on stage last night and it was wonderful to see and hear them and have them play so so many songs that brought back wonderful memories. Going to a Fleetwood Mac concert with my Dad without actually going to the concert for one…. we were in California and they were playing somewhere but we couldn’t get tickets so we just listened from outside for a little while.
As my Dad had introduced me, I thought I was introducing Caitlin to the Mac last night, but how do you introduce anyone to one of the most successful bands of all time! Caitlin not only knew a lot of songs, she was singing along to a few. I only wish my Dad could have been with Caitlin and I and it would have brought it all full circle! I love you Caitlin… I love and miss you Dad!
