ideas, design, photography and…
a passion for creativity and for
work that makes a difference.
I'm Julian Luckham of Luckham Creative. Originally from England, I grew up in both England and Canada, eventually settling in Vancouver, where I launched my own business in 1985. In 1992, I relocated to Ottawa, where I continue to live and work. I’m a proud father, music lover, designer, photographer, photo illusionist and occasional writer— in that order. With over 40 years of experience in graphic design, a love of all things creative, and a strong drive to do work that makes a difference, I'm proud to work with small businesses, artists, musicians, writers, photographers, and non-profits—whether local or global—and help them tell their stories and connect with their audiences in meaningful ways. I’m particularly drawn to projects that serve communities, bring joy to others, and improve lives.
In recent years, I've intentionally focused on working with a smaller, more aligned group of clients whose missions resonate with my own. If you think we share a similar vision, I’d love to connect! I invite you to explore my website, read “What does Luckham Creative do?”, and get in touch to see how my passion for creativity can bring your ideas to life. While you're here, check out my photo gallery, A View from Here., and if you’re curious about a project I’m especially proud of, don’t miss Father Daughter Perspective. I look forward to connecting with you!
When I met Robert Bateman on Salt Spring Island he introduced himself with “Hi, I’m Bob, I love your work!”. Ahhh… I see what you did there, now the shoe’s on the other foot! LOL
I just received three very beautiful professionally taken concert photos of Peter Gabriel on his recent i/o tour. The photos were printed on top quality photo paper and I received them in 6 business days! These photos were well priced, less than what I’ve seen on some other photo sites. I highly recommend Luckham Creative for all of your photo needs.
(Julian’s) ability to take what too often amounts to a wheelbarrow full of text and turn it into an appealing, readable and polished piece always amazes me. He has an excellent eye for design, and because he has a keen ability to contextualize the material, can rapidly find creative solutions to problems. Julian is also unfailingly professional and patient—even when clients make eleventh hour changes or balk at new design ideas.
Julian has designed a multitude of publications, collateral and online products for WIEGO [since 2008]. His attention to detail, responsiveness and extensive knowledge of photography and printing have been essential to producing high impact publications such as WIEGO’s Annual Report, the Global Economic Crisis Study and much much more often in multiple languages and at times working with key stakeholders who are based in other countries.
I have worked with Julian, and Luckham Creative, for many years now. He has done a wide variety of graphic design, web development and design, and layout for our organization. He has also done some training with our partners and taken some gorgeous photos that we continue to use. I highly recommend Julian for creative graphic design delivered on time and in budget!
Luckham Creative created a unique online movie marquee format for the Ottawa Film Society’s (OFS) Web site. Julian’s design is fresh, innovative and engaging, which is why we’ve been working with Julian since 2003.
As a photographer, I love shooting concerts, and I’ve seen the Canadian band Whitehorse more times than I can remember, they always put on an amazing show. Both Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland, of Whitehorse, are always appreciative of the photos I share, one year Luke just left a three word comment – “You never disappoint”! Thanks Luke, you guys always make it easy! See for yourself: Whitehorse
