Allison Russell was at the Ottawa Jazz Festival last week… she is so amazing. Allison is a Canadian self-taught singer, songwriter, poet, activist, and multi-instrumentalist. I love her voice, love that she plays clarinet and banjo, love her energy, you can tell by a few of the photos, even a couple where she’s airborne! Most of all though, I love her strength and her power, neither of which she hides. Even her life story, shows how resilient she has been and is! And the love on stage and even within the crowd was palpable! The first song of my two videos, Superlover, is one which Allison just recently wrote and recorded with the legendary Annie Lennox.
