Peter Gabriel played the Canadian Tire Centre here in Ottawa on September 9th. As I’ve said elsewhere, this show was the most beautiful show I’ve ever seen! The music of course, of which Peter Gabriel is one of my favourite artists, but the visual… Peter is well known for his groundbreaking work in Music Videos back in the 80’s but he is also known for what he has been doing on stage since his early days with Genesis, the theatricality, and the costumes made his shows that much more entertaining. I saw him in 1983 in Vancouver as one of the opening acts for David Bowie and that show was amazing! This show, there were no costumes but there was art, lighting technology I’ve never seen before, and multiple screens for all kinds of videos, special effects, and close up shots of all the band members. If you can go to this show, go… spare no expense to get the best seat in front of the stage as you can, you will not be disappointed, and I hope it will far exceed your expectations, as it did for me.
