So very sad to hear of Sinéad’s passing today, at the oh so young age of 56… regardless of whether you liked her music or not take a listen to this track, in my opinion the most powerful vocal performance she did, I love this song, written by Bono for the 1993 film In the Name of the Father. I’ve been a fan since day one, I remember when her first album came out in 1987, the self produced “the Lion and the Cobra”, I knew this would be big after the first listen. While working in the wholesale division of A&B Sound, I was pushing this album on all of our accounts, “Sure I’ll take a couple of copies”, said one store. “No you’ll take a box” I said, ”and as long as you play it in store, you’ll be back for another box next week!” and they were! If you think you know Sinéad from “Nothing Compares 2 U”, take a listen to her first album, watch the 2022 documentary “Nothing Compares”, then you’ll really know Sinéad!
